Hello everyone! I've been trying to keep in touch with everyone, but I have a lot of people I care about to tell about my current college days. I decided it would be best to start a blog. It's something everyone can access at their convenience, something everyone can see, and something that I can only gain journalistic experience from!
Right now, I'm a bit of a busy bee. I got my first story assignment from the Ball State Daily News on Monday night, just a few hours before I watched the 900th episode of WWE's Monday Night RAW! I get to write a feature piece on out-of-state students and how they are handling all the adjustments of college and being far from home. I'm excited about this because of some of the people I get to talk to. There is someone here from ALASKA! And I thought I was homesick! I also pitched a highlight story on the upcoming Monday Night RAW event in Indy, but that idea was shot down quickly, seeing that no one has much interest in pro wrestling around here. Oh well, I guess. I won't leave here until I get to do that story or any pro wrestling story for that matter!
I'm also looking to be involved with the school's magazine, Ball Bearings, and WCRD, the school's radio station. Call out meetings are next week, so I have some time before that. Until then, I'll be working on my homework and making my mark in the Daily News.
Here at Ball State, I have some interesting professors. My math professor lets his social awkwardness effect his teaching, my sociology professor has too much energy at 8 AM, and my journalism 101 professor reminds me of my grandpa (how or why is still being determined).
Now, my English teacher reminds me of Heidi Montag from The Hills. I'm not too excited about that or the class really. There are lots of clueless individuals in that one. But one thing I do like is this assignment we got today. We have to write a personal essay about a belief we have and introduce others to this value of ours. I have some ideas for this one, and I am excited to work on it. I'll keep all of you posted on what I write. I'll even try to post it on here.
When I write for the newspaper, magazine, or my classes, I'll try to post the actual piece on here or at least a link. I know how y'all admire my work!
Well I need to get some rest! I had very little sleep last night! Just always know that I may be here in the middle of Indiana, but I'm with you in spirit and at heart. I love you!
